Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, CAF America and the NGO “Let’s do it Ukraine” have been supporting Ukrainians with humanitarian aid in hot spots in the East and South of Ukraine by implementing the “Let’s do it Ukraine SOS” humanitarian project. Part of the districts where the humanitarian mission is implemented are still being shelled by the occupiers every day. The Environment has no borders, so everything that happens in one country is felt by the entire Earth.

“The humanitarian and environmental crisis in Ukraine continues, hundreds of thousands of people still do not have access to clean drinking water and the ability to cook hot food. That is why the humanitarian project “Let’s do it Ukraine SOS” was created. We are sincerely grateful to every partner, donor, and volunteer who joined.” – said the leader of “Let’s do it Ukraine” Iuliia Markhel.

As part of the cooperation, in 2022, humanitarian and environmental educational activities were implemented to achieve the goals of sustainable development:

  • Provided support for the activities of humanitarian hubs “Let’s do it Ukraine SOS” in Bobrovytsia, Chernivtsi, Bila Tserkva, Mukachevo to help victims and internally displaced persons, the hubs were visited by more than 13,000 people in need, including children and the elderly. 1,200 internally displaced persons received food packages.

  • The logistics of 40 tons of humanitarian aid to the affected regions was ensured, thus 3,600 citizens got access to food products.
  • Provided support for 3 shelters for IDP volunteers for 60 people for 6 months in the Chernivtsi, Kyiv, Zakarpattia regions.
  • Organized online and offline educational events for volunteers and internally displaced persons: training sessions, strategic sessions, work with experts, conferences to share experiences and acquire new skills in the implementation of the humanitarian mission. Information and educational campaigns on ecologically responsible living have also been held since the war, as well as pieces of training on social entrepreneurship. A summer open-air cinema was organized in 4 settlements for temporarily displaced families and children.
  • The reusable packaging program was activated, where 6,582 schoolchildren sewed 21,543 eco-bags from old items and now use them in everyday life. Since the activity was implemented during a total blackout and shelling, it additionally had a positive effect on the psychological level, the children were distracted from the war and were involved in socially useful work.
  • Eco-action “Clean beaches together!” for internally displaced persons. Organization of cleaning of the recreation area with other measures, involvement of migrants in 7 communities near rivers and lakes in safe areas. 120 participants attended the eco-expedition with the research of garbage on beaches and in recreation areas.

In wartime, proper waste management is very important. We develop a sorting culture. As part of the support, the information on the National Map of Recycling Points recyclingpoints.org has been updated. Involved active citizens in the territories controlled by Ukraine to monitor existing processing points during the war. Conducted online and offline trainings “Proper handling of waste in wartime”. The problem of waste logistics is acute throughout Ukraine, so the use of recycling points by civilians will help unload landfills and recycle waste. The platform was visited by 56,350 users in 2022.

Within the framework of cooperation 2023:

Purchased and distributed: 295 food kits for Ukrainians in the affected and most remote areas of the Mykolaiv region. The set includes the following products: cookies, tea, sugar, stewed pork, and salt. Families with many children received help; families who have lost their breadwinner; lonely elderly people; people with disabilities; people of pre-retirement age who have lost their jobs and have no means of subsistence.

The “Good Kitchen” project was implemented in the Kharkiv, Mykolaiv, and Kherson regions. Volunteers prepared and delivered fresh hot food every day for Ukrainians affected by the war and floods, and internally displaced persons. In total, 33,300 hot meals were issued within the framework of the project in the frontline and affected regions

“Not everyone can cook, we cook on electric stoves, but not everyone has them. Many pensioners cannot take care of themselves. Therefore, hot food is essential for these people.” – says Iryna Gerasymchuk, a resident of the village of Luch, Mykolaiv region.

We thank our reliable partners CAF and all donors for the opportunity not to stop, to continue humanitarian missions. We will continue our activities until the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine is overcome and we are always happy to cooperate.
