On the 27th of March 2024, the distribution of free complex hot meals – “Good Kitchen” – organized by the All-Ukrainian youth movement Let’s Do It Ukraine with the assistance of the Charities Aid Foundation America (CAF America) and financial support from the PepsiCo Foundation in cooperation with PepsiCo Ukraine as part of the international food safety program Food for Good, took place in Mykolaiv and Zorya village, Mykolaiv region.

Almost from the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Zorya was under occupation, and after its liberation, it was shelled daily for 9 months. People actually lived in basements, and their homes are still half-destroyed. That is why the volunteers distributed hot meals to the locals in the village, as it is very difficult to cook in such houses.

In addition, lonely elderly people with disabilities and pre-retirement age in Mykolaiv also received lunches.

As part of the humanitarian mission in March 2024, volunteers sent an additional 880 hot meals “Good Kitchen” to the locals in the Kherson region, as the situation there is still very difficult. Freshly prepared food is useful for the locals and helps to overcome the humanitarian crisis in the region.

“The south of Ukraine took a big blow, and therefore the humanitarian crisis is still ongoing in this region, with hundreds of people still lacking access to clean drinking water and the ability to cook hot meals. We are grateful to the partners of the Good Kitchen project, each coordinator, each volunteer and ambassador who have joined and are joining the work of this important project,” said Iuliia Markhel, leader of Let’s Do It Ukraine.

In 2023, the project distributed 33,300 hot meals in the frontline and affected regions, and an additional 1,000 hot meals were distributed in March 2024, with mobile volunteer teams from Let’s Do It Ukraine SOS providing food to Kharkiv residents every week: Industrial, Kyivskyi and Saltovka districts (the latter destroyed by 70%, hundreds of high-rise buildings broken or completely destroyed, but people still live there); Ruska Lozova village in Kharkiv region; Mykolaiv city and Mykolaiv region, namely the village of Luch, which was shelled daily by the occupiers for several months and destroyed by 80%; Kherson: Richport and Ostrov districts. “Good Kitchen” focused on helping the most affected regions of Ukraine to work together to help overcome the humanitarian crisis, which still have problems with food/water/gas supply.
